A tankless water heater is a device used to heat water up without the need of a tank. Water simply flows through the mechanism and comes out hot. The water heater may be powered by an electric component or by gas. A tankless water heater is very efficient as it reduces the losses of heat that a water tank heater experiences. The heater has loops of pipes into it that makes sure that water going through the pipes is heated.
The flow rate may be limited in the electric models but gas models work well and deliver hot water at will. There basically two types of tankless water heaters, small ones that are connected at the point where the hot water is required and big ones that can serve a whole house. A small tankless heater may be connected to various points but not many, it eliminates the heat losses through pipes and save time. Tankless water heaters have greater advantages than the tank water heaters, here are some of the advantages that the tankless water heater has:
● Small And Compact
Due to the elimination of a tank, the tankless water heater tends to be small and compact in size. They do not occupy space and can be installed anywhere, underneath sinks, on a wall, outside with an anti-freeze kit, even in the bathroom. All you need is to connect it to the piping system and connect it to some wiring if it is electrical or gas piping if it uses gas.
● Water on Demand
A tankless water heater produces hot water on demand when you open the tap, water flows through the heater and comes out hot, unlike the tank water heaters where you have to wait for all the water in the heater to be warmed up and released into the pipes. This makes them better as you do not have to wait for hot water to use it and you can never run out of cold water, unlike a tank heater where if the hot water in the tank runs out, you have to wait for the tank to fill up and warm the water again.
● They Are Efficient
A tankless water heater eliminates heat losses that are experienced by a tank water heater. Heat may be lost through the tank and piping hence using more energy to heat up water. The tankless water heater also heats up minimum amounts of water at a time, unlike a tank where the whole water tank and its contents have to be heated. This makes the tankless water heater very efficient and minimizes on energy consumption.
● Tankless Water Heaters Are Durable
A tankless water heater is durable and lasts up to 3 times longer than a tank water heater. A tank water heater may experience a lot of mechanical wear such as leaks and tank bursts, tankless water heaters are more durable as they don’t have a water containment unit thus no bursts and leaks. You also reduce the possibility of flooding in your house due to leaks and ruptures.
